José Huizar saves the Skid Row parks!

As I have been blogging about here, the parks in Skid Row were in danger of closing. Mr. Huizar– who is the Council person for CD14,  just took over the majority of downtown Los Angeles, and with that, all of Skid Row. To his credit, he realized the importance of these green spaces for our neighborhood and reached in to his discretionary budget to avert San Julian Park from shutting it’s gates last Friday. Gladys Park is now under the authority of LA City Rec and Parks.

Bravo, Mr. Huizar, bravo. Read more about this here.
