Mob Of Love Heading For Skid Row

existing to promote neighborhood beautification on the public sidewalks of Skid Row, Los Angeles (mission of Trees of San Pedro Project).

When Katherine McNenny moved three years ago to Skid Row she decided to pursue planting trees along her new street.  She began her first public presentation of this goal by calling Skid Row a magical place; magical because of the love.

Some questions for the Love Mob:

What are you guys up to?

We are creating an ORGANIZED ACT of LOVE.

Why Skid Row?

The real question is why not Skid Row? We cannot push our “problems” into a corner and forget about them if we are to be whole as a society or a planet, for that matter. The event is called justBEcause, and it’s kinda that simple, we are introducing family to family… just because. Love doesn’t need a special occasion to show up.

What do you hope for the takeaway from the February 16th experience?

For us its about what we can GIVE instead of what we can get from any situation, so we are open and ready to be in and of service. But if we were to get something from it, I think it would be enjoyment, the kind you get from a cook out with music, good friends, and a reason to celebrate life.

Los Angeles magazine recently gave a shout out to the Love Mob.  Click HERE to see what happened in Hollywood last December and what’s planned for Skid Row in February.

Blogger’s note: The views expressed in this blog post are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the position of the Trees on San Pedro Street Project editrix, Ms. McNenny. This is a Community improvement blog and not faith-based- although I must say, it’s pretty hard to be against love.
