Promoting the Evolution of the Toy District

A USC student named Philip Armstrong generously shared this draft presentation with me done with his fellow students Vasant Sharma, Jae Hoon Park & Nikola Hlady about their vision for the part of Skid Row known as the Toy district. I think there are some promising ideas in it and a lot of insightful background as to what this part of downtown Los Angeles is all about. The reason I am sharing this on my blog is primarily to stimulate conversation about this neighborhood. As far as I know, this report contains the only known Master Plan for this district, at this time. I’m hoping many of the ideas contained within this presentation can be implemented in a natural and community supported way, slowing gaining traction with the local stakeholders-especially the greening part.
