My first tree planting is scheduled for December 10th of 2011 around the Little Tokyo Lofts @ 420 S San Pedro St.. This will be my first tree planting with TreePeople(http://www.treepeople.org/).
One of the first things TreePeople asks of it’s tree planters is to come up with a name for their planting project, thus the Trees on San Pedro St. Project was born. I have attended TreePeople’s Citizen Forester Program. Their business model is one that assists the tree planter(s) with tree care for the first 5 years after the trees are planted. The CCEA (Central City East Association) has generously chipped in for this project.
The images show are of my street as it exists now, and as I imagine it could look with the addition of trees.

This is such good news. Thanks so much for the effort. We finally will hear birds singing:-)
Given the generally unattractive streetscapes of Skid Row this project should receive the support of any area stakeholder seeking a better future for Skid Row. Tree planting campaigns in many other urban locales have proved catalytic to further beautification and revitalization. To have someone as dedicated as Katherine to this cause in an area as difficult as Skid Row is truly a blessing. Best of luck!
