brand new shiny storm drain @ 6th & San Julian- also, the hole around the fire hydrant has been filled, before, the crater was proving a place for trash pile up
Last Friday the LA Department of Public Works came to Skid Row and put a new storm-drain grate at the mouth of the gutter @ San Julian & 6th. Hooray!
This particular opening was constantly clogged with trash, and rats could often be seen crawling out of it. My life is strange now- true. I walked by this new grate yesterday, saw it, then started jumping up and down with excitement.
In all seriousness- this is an example of government working. Measure O made this possible. Several local community members pushed for this drain to get covered, did the research and bam! New storm-drain cover!

The City of LA Operation Clean Streets team coordinated the installation of the storm drain cover 2 days after it was requested. Kudos to the City of LA Operation Clean Streets team.
Make that the City of LA Operation Healthy Streets team. Thanks.
Operation Healthy Streets is the BUSINESS! They are doing/did a great job of cleaning Skid Row and the residents here are very happy with their attention.
